Abu Dhabi:
An Indian expatriate died in a road accident in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle, media reported on Thursday.
The accident happened on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway Sunday.
The body of 43-year-old Lasheen Yousuf was identified by his family members, who flew in from India, in the mortuary of an Abu Dhabi hospital Tuesday, Emirates 24/7 reported Thursday.
Earlier Yousuf's friends and relatives lodged a missing person report with Abu Dhabi police on Monday after he went missing Sunday.
"Abu Dhabi Police asked the family members to check a body that they had received from a traffic accident," a family friend was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, the exact reason behind the accident remains unclear.
The father of two, who hailed from Palghat in the south Indian state of Kerala, had his own consultancy service and was an avid bike enthusiast.
"On Sunday, he picked up his mother who came back to Abu Dhabi from India. After dropping her at home and taking his lunch he was on his way to Dubai for a business meeting. From Sunday noon, he could not be contacted and the family was searching for him ever since," the family friend said.
The deceased's last rites were performed in Abu Dhabi in the presence of his friends and family members, who came from India.
