Manama: A 31-year-old Indian man has been jailed for three years for molesting a minor girl in Bahrain.
The man, who works at a cafeteria, was convicted of molesting the 11-year-old by the High Criminal Court in Manama yesterday.
He kissed the schoolgirl on the lips at the cafeteria in East Riffa when she ordered breakfast.
The schoolgirl told prosecutors the defendant gave her one Bahraini dirhan (BD1) after kissing her, Gulf Daily News reported without identifying the man.
"I was buying a sandwich from a cafeteria after my school exams and he grabbed me by my cheeks and kissed me on my lips," the 11-year-old said in her statement to prosecutors.
"He then gave me BD1 and I started to cry and ran to an apartment where I was having private tuitions."
The defendant will be deported after completing his sentence.
