Indian-origin man held in drug bust
Durban: A South African man of Indian-origin has been arrested in Durban for his suspected role in a syndicate involved in massive drug bust in the UK and South Africa earlier this week.

Gopal Ganesh is the director SA Cultural Curios, one of several local and international companies that have been under investigation after police found a R600m drugs stash in a warehouse in the city, Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigations spokesperson Musa Zondi said.

This followed the seizure last week by UK police at Heathrow Airport of 165 kg of heroin on a flight from South Africa, destined for a warehouse in Kent, Zondi said adding the UK drugs were packed in containers marked "art objects".

Ganesh was the sixth person to be arrested on allegations of involvement in the drug smuggling syndicate and several more were expected soon, he said adding all six will appear in court here on Monday.

The other five accused were not named.
