The Indian, who has been identified as AB, 23, is absconding after committing the crime on March 11, 2013 and has been sentenced in absentia, English daily Gulf News reported today.

The Pakistani, identified by his name's initials RA, 28, was sentenced to death for assisting the Indian in committing the crime by a Dubai court yesterday, the Gulf News reported.

Police arrested him after investigations.

According to the report, the Indian had called the Pakistani to his house after committing the crime and asked him to drop him to the airport.

"He was acting odd when I went to his home. He said he had killed his wife and that her body was lying in the bedroom. When I went there, I found that she was still alive. So I strangulated her," the Pakistani was quoted as saying.

A Bangladeshi labourer found the body in a garbage bag on the Dubai-Al Ain road.

Police got to know the details of the case after the Pakistani was arrested.
