Four Indian students were injured after they were allegedly assaulted by a couple of teenagers in Melbourne.
It was the second attack against Indians studying in Australia this month. The incident took place on Saturday night at a party.
Two people gatecrashed the party and started thrashing the students. One of the four, an Andhra student Shravan was attacked with a screwdriver, which pierced his head. He is in a critical state.
In a separate incident in Melbourne earlier this month, another Indian student was thrashed on a train by a group of men.
Police have released CCTV footage of the bashing of an Indian student hoping the public can help identify the perpetrators.
India says the High Commissioner in Canberra has rushed to Melbourne to ensure that the student who has been seriously injured receives the best possible treatment and that the authorities ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
"We will impress upon Australian authorities that such attacks should not be permitted. It is Australia's responsibility to ensure security and well-being of students," he said.
