Baghdad: The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Shiite mosque south of Baghdad following Friday prayers that Iraqi officials say killed 10 people.
The IS statement circulated by supporters online Saturday only mentions a suicide attack. Iraqi officials say a roadside bomb outside the mosque was followed minutes later by a suicide attack inside the building.
Iraqi officials say four separate attacks in Baghdad on Saturday killed eight people and wounded 20. Three people were killed, including two Iraqi soldiers, and another two people were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a convoy south of Baghdad. Three separate roadside bomb attacks killed five people and wounded 18.
