Beijing: Six persons were today killed and several others injured when a knife-wielding middle-aged man went on a stabbing spree in the suburbs of Beijing in China.
The accused, surnamed Zhao, 34, was arrested but not before he attacked many people following a family property dispute in Huairou district in Beijing.
Zhao, a resident of Wanghua village, has a history of mental illness, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
He allegedly attacked an unknown number of people with a knife at Wanghua village of the suburban district following a family property dispute, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau said in a statement.
Other people were also injured and have been taken to hospital, it said without specifying any number.
This is one of several knife attacks this month.
On March 1, knife-wielding assailants killed 33 people and injured over 130 at the crowded Kunming railway station.
China blamed the deadly attack on East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) fighting for the independence of Xinjiang.
The communist nation in the recent times experienced knife attacks by disgruntled people who targeted innocent passersby to vent their anger.
