Pristina, Kosovo: Kosovo's opposition used tear gas and pepper spray in its latest attempt to prevent the functioning of parliament today, while protesters outside threw stones and paint at the building and police.
Opposition MPs have been paralysing parliamentary sessions for weeks in a bid to thwart EU-brokered dialogue and agreements with Serbia, the country from which Kosovo broke away and declared independence in 2008.
Despite a heavy police presence in and around the parliament, the opposition released tear gas in the chamber to try and prevent Tuesday's session going ahead, said an AFP reporter at the scene.
One opposition MP fired pepper spray in the direction of ministers but was blocked by two rows of police.
MPs from the governing coalition reconvened in another room in the building to continue the session without opposition deputies.
