Seif al-Islam Gaddafi
Tripoli:
The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Luis Moreno-Ocampo says Libya has evidence linking a son of deposed ruler Moammar Gaddafi to recruiting mercenaries and executing people.
Mr Ocampo told The Associated Press on Thursday that Libyan prosecutors have evidence backing the court's reports that Seif al-Islam Gaddafi supervised and helped bring in foreign mercenaries, as well as evidence linking him to executions.
He said that the Libyan government has until the end of April to present its case to the court to push for its demand to try Seif.
Seif was captured last year in Libya after a civil war that toppled the Gaddafi regime. The international court wants to try Gaddafi's son and has asked the Libyan authorities to surrender him.
Libya says it will challenge the court's jurisdiction.
