And that is all the action that we have from Tuesday. Wednesday promises to have a lot more for us.
In eager hope of another medal...

Thank you!!

India schedule for Wednesday:

Athletics -Tintu Luka at 16:05 IST

Boxing - Quarter-final : Devendro Singh vs Paddy Barnes (IRL) at 01.15 IST (9th August Indian time)

Semi-final : Mary Kom vs Nicola Adams (GBR) at 18:15 IST

Ehsan Hadadi takes Silver while Gerd Kanter of Estonia claims the Bronze.

India's Vikas Gowda finishes 8th.
No! Harting goes celebrating. The German will take the Gold!

Looks like, as things stand, Robert Harting of Germany will take the Gold. There is Iran's Hadadi who has a throw left though!
Even 67.19 from Poland's Malachowski is not enough to bring him a medal. That is how tough this competition is.
Gerd Kanter of Estonia will take the Bronze.
63.89 is what Gowda managed from his final throw. Considering he had thrown 68 in previous events, it looked like, even if remotely, he could do it again today. Not to be but again, a decent outing for him.
He does not better his previous throw. It means he will finish his campaign 8th. Not too bad but hopes were sure raised...
Gowda comes out for a miracle throw...
Third and final round starts...
WHAT A BATTLE

Hadadi looks for his stolen top-spot back. Throws a massive but over-stepped. That looked like topping Harting's 68.27m.
ANOTHER MAMMOTH

Germany's Harting takes top-spot with a 68.27m throw!
Gowda is currently last of 8 competing athletes. His last throw will determine his final position.
Iran's Hadadi leading with his 68.18m throw.
MEANWHILE:

Estonia's Gerd Kanter throws a MAMMOTH 68.03!
The others are breaching at least the 65m mark. Gowda has one more to go. He throws a 67+ and he will find himself on the podium. Not as easy though!
64.97m. Up next is India's Gowda....
Second round begins. Weirig throws....
Harting gets a 66.45m. Things can still change for Gowda. Focus continues to be on his next two...
Alekna of Lithuania gets a 66.07. Not looking too good for Gowda but he has two more attempts and has breached the 68m mark before.
Malachowski throws 67.19. The Pole now in medal bracket.
Gowda's best of 64.97 being overtaken by other athletes here. (Correction: 64.79m)
Estonia's Kanter comes up with a 65.96m!
64.92 from Spain's Casanas. So, Gowda being left behind the field....
And it is from the 64.15m from the Indian in the first of three throws to decide the top-3.
Martin Werig (8th after first three throws) sends a massive 65.85!
Final three rounds begin...
Wering up next. He throws a bit above 60. It does not matter as he was eight and one below Vikas anyway. So, Gowda in top-8 and will have three more attempts now. Rest outside top-8 eliminated.
The Dutch is unable to do it. Vikas in the final eight! Awaiting confirmation as the round gets over.
Erik  Cadee needs 64.97 or more to oust Vikas. He is up next... (Correction: 64.79m)
Foul from Spain's Casanas. Looking good for Gowda to move ahead.
Harrandine throws and it is 63.59. So Gowda safe with two more throws to come in this round.
Martin Werig has a throw remaining. He is 8th and Harrandine is 9th. Their best are 63.98 and 63.03 respectively.
Current standing have Gowda 7th. Top-8 move ahead for another round of throws.
So what does it mean for Gowda. A thin thread for the Indian but final result as to who will progress for another round of throws at the end of this round.
Not a good throw in the third round. Waiting for confirmation...
Gowda with his third attempt....
Germany's Weiring throws 63.98m after his 63.34m.
Malachows of Poland comes back after his 62.50m with a 66.92m throw.
Harting fouls. So Gowda with his 64.09 holding on to his position.
Hadadi throws 64.09. He led after the first attempts.
Relief for Gowda as till now, no athlete has looked too impressive in their 2nd attempt.
Gowda will have to come back really hard in the third attempt. Top-8 get to throw again after three attempts.
Gowda will have to come back really hard in the third attempt. Top-8 get to throw again after three attempts.
Only a 60.95 from Gowda in his second attempt.
2 more to go. Vikas 6 out of 10 throws so far!
Poland's Malachow does not manage to release well. Gets a 62.50.
Harting of Germany throws a 67.79. Vikas being pushed down the field but it is still early stages here.
Vikas now fifth with his 64.79. This is the first attempt for the athletes.
Ehasan Hadadi of Iran throws a massive 68.18m.
Australia's Harradine disappoints with a 58.24. Vikas holds on to third in the 1st attempt.
Vikas now pushed down to third with  Estonia's Kanter who throws 65.07m.
67.38m throw from the third man in - Alekna of Lithuania.
61.03 from Okeye of Great Britain. So that is a perspective on how Gowda's throw was.
64.97m for Gowda. That is a good throw there for the Indian.  (Correction: 64.79m)
Vikas Gowda gets ready to throw....
And they are here. The men who will compete in the Discus Throw final are coming out to the field.
India's Vikas Gowda features in this event.
Captain and custodian Bharat Chetri puts himself on the line to defend against a Belgian attack. The men in red still managed to drive three past him despite not converting any of their penalty corners.

Fresh pictures from the recently concluded hockey match between India and Belgium

But Tuesday is not all over for Indian fans. There is Vikas Gowda who will come out at 1215 (IST) to aim at a medal.
That is all from hockey for the Indians.

Lose to Belgium 0-3. Just has not worked for the side here. Have lost all matches despite showing a fighting approach in the opener against Netherlands.
Belgium hungry for more. Come all sticks blazing for their fourth but Chetri puts his body on the line to keep the ball out.
GOAL

Just sums up India's story in the London Olympics. Belgium thrash their third in the dying minutes of the second half. Now lead 3-0.
5 minutes left now. Belgium lead 2-0.
Tushar shows his skills but Belgium somehow manage to keep the ball away. That was a good move in search of a penalty corner but did not come off in the end.
Tushar Khandekar throws his stick in the air. A bit of desperation now setting in for India even as Belgium return to attack, only to miss. They can afford to, with a 2-0 lead backing them.
Just a little over 10 minutes left. Indian forwards come out again with the ball and attack. Excellent skill but as has been the case throughout this match, the finishing remains a work in progress.
Simon Gougnard dribbled the ball past two Indians with sublime skill and took his shot which beat Chetri. It however was rising dangerously as shown by the referral.
CLOSE CALL

It is coming apart in a hurry for India. Belgium strike again but it has been denied. India's referral works.
The second goal was scored by Gauthier Boccard.
Belgium leading 2-0 now. Indian forwards have looked in good touch despite nothing to show on the score board yet.

Finishing not being allowed to improve by the Belgians.
Not a question of needling when in crisis but Indian defense has been inconsistent throughout the course of the London Olympics. There have been spectacular moments but the moments of lapse in concentration have cost the side heavily as well.
The Indians were perhaps, looking for a penalty corner. The referee looked unfazed and the Belgians made the most of it.

The shot was not the most spectacular ever seen on the hockey pitch but was enough to find the back of the net.
GOAL

Belgium come out of absolutely nowhere to catch the Indian defence napping. A reverse flick past an area without any blue and through the legs of Chetri.
Vincent Vanasch is the Belgian custodian. At 5 feet 11, he does manage to cover most of the net behind him. Indians though will look to pelt him with shots again.
SAFE

Belgium goalkeeper is having a brilliant game. Sandeep's powerful strike thwarted away.
Question is about dragging sticks. Video shows Belgian player trying to move the Indian away. Penalty Corner it is. Belgium lose referral!
Belgian players asking for a referral.
Penalty corner for India minutes into the 2nd HALF!
END OF 1st HALF

India trail Belgium 0-1. Have tried to cut through the Belgian defense but have been largely unsuccessful. When an opening has been found, either the finishing has cost the side or just plain luck with the ball hitting the post on one occasion.

Belgians have managed to play a wider hockey and have managed to take the long passes into the Indian D and strike from their. Have also had 2 penalty corners but Indian defence has held on.

India need to keep the momentum up in the second half and seal the gaps in the defence to ensure a win here.
Final few seconds now. India push again. Looking for a PC which has not come in the final minutes of the opening half.
Danish Mujtaba has been feeding the forwards for some time now. Has been doing well at it but the Belgians have been defending well. While India should have had a goal, it continues to be 1-0 against them.
SK Uthappa substituted in, in the middle of this tussle for the ball.
Under 4 minutes left now. Belgium keeping the possession, not wanting India to go into the break with the momentum. The Indians though are trying to woo the Belgian players out of their half.
Another attack builds....and another attack fades out from India. The men in blue are keeping the pressure up. Finishing a bit shoddy from Sardar on that occasion .
Counting down 8 minutes in the opening half.
SAFE

The strike adjudged as rising up. Scoreline continues to be 1-0 in favour of Belgium.
Belgium have already had one PC.
Belgium fight back at the other end and it is a penalty corner!
Birender, Shivender and Danish are suddenly looking like bombarding the Belgian goal. Have done everything right except find the ball in the net.
Indian forwards attack. Briliant moves but the Belgian custodian holds on and deflects it away.
SAFE

Not successful. India though have the ball. A hit but strikes the post. UNLUCKY!
All eyes on Sandeep Singh. India have been gunning for a PC.
Penalty corner to India!
Belgium look intent on making it 2-0 before the first half ends. Looking constantly for open ends and cracks.

India have also managed to make forays but have appeared a bit less convincing than the Belgians, so far.
GOAL

Belgium strike with a field goal. Were crafting moves into the Indian camp and the defense finally crumbles to let one in.

India down 0-1 with 20 minutes left in the opening half.
SAFE

Shot deflected off Sandeep Singh.
Penalty Corner to Belgium! Defense needs to be a bit more cleaner for India.
Belgium playing a more open game than India. Have been using the flanks better. Still too early to judge but initial observation shows more red than blue in the wings.
The Indian national anthem just played out. The players appear to be a little more focused today than before.
The Belgians have been slightly better than the Indians. They have had a win from their outing at the Riverbank Arena.

1-1 against New Zealand
2-1 against South Korea
1-3 against Netherlands
1-2 against Germany
This may be an inconsequential match for the Indian men but a win will boost morale of a side that has been torn apart by the opposition.

1-4 against South Korea
2-5 against Germany
1-3 against New Zealand
2-3 against Netherlands
And we are 10 minutes away from India's hockey match against Belgium.
