With that we wrap up the day's coverage. It was a mixed bag for India on Day 7. Saina, Vijender, Sania-Paes gave the Indians something to cheer about while Ronjan Sodhi, P Kashyap, Jai Bhagwan were the major disappointments. More is lined up for later today. Clijsters has been knocked out by Sharapova in straight sets 2-6, 5-7. Sharapova will play country-mate Maria Kirilenko in the semi-finals who got the better of Petra Kvitova in her quarter-final.
Tennis: Meanwhile, Kim Clijsters and Maria Sharapova are playing in the last of the women's singles quarter-finals. Sharapova won the opening set 6-2. The score in the second set is 4-3 in Clijsters' favour but on serve.
Leander Paes/Sania Mirza reach the quarter-final of the mixed doubles tennis event at the Olympics. Paes/Sania beat Ivanovic/Zimonjic 6-2, 6-4 in the first round. They now face top seeds Azarenka/Mirnyi in the quarters.

A word in for Parupalli Kashyap as he has exceeded all expectations and created history of some sorts at least. Many of the heralded prospects in the Indian Olympic contingent did not rise up to the expectations but Kashyap showed that he was all geared up for the Games. Losing out after putting up an impressive fight against the world number 2, will definitely bode well for the Indian.
Sania/Paes are still leading in the second set too 2-1.

Kashyap played well in the first game but the world number 2 showed why he is considered as one of the best. The latter part of the first game was extremely tight and Chong Wei Lee proved his worth, just about hanging on against the Indian.
