London: A painting of Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai is going on display alongside British luminaries at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The portrait by artist Jonathan Yeo shows Malala doing her homework. It was painted months after the Pakistani girl, then 15, was shot by the Taliban as she traveled to school in northwest Pakistan in October 2012.
She was treated in England, where she still lives.
Yeo said he had tried to capture a sense of "power and wisdom yet vulnerability and youth" in the portrait.
Starting tomorrow, it will hang among Yeo's portraits of celebrities including artist Damien Hirst and actor Kevin Spacey at the gallery.
Once the exhibition ends in January, the painting will be sold to aid the Malala Fund, which campaigns for girls' education.
