Beijing:
A man was executed on Sunday reportedly by a firing squad for stabbing 29 children and three teachers last month in China's eastern Jiangsu Province, one of a spate of attacks that shocked the nation.
Xu Yuyuan, 47, was executed at 9:39 am by the Intermediate People's Court of Taizhou City, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Xu, who had been jobless for nine years, was sentenced to death on May 15 by a court in Taizhou after a half-day trial attended by 300 people.
The sentence was then approved by China's Supreme People's Court after which was he was executed.
He was second attacker to have been executed since April for the attacks on the schools children, which sent shock waves across the country.
Earlier, a community Doctor who carried out a similar attack on school children was executed by a firing squad.
Xu attacked the Zhongxin Kindergarten in Taixing City on April 29 and carried out the carnage. Thirty-two were injured in the attack.
He admitted his motive was to vent his rage against society after losing money in gambling and business, while suffering other setbacks in his personal life.
About 18 people mostly primary school children were killed and over 100 injured in seven such attacks across the country since March this year.
