Man found guilty of murdering NRI in UK
London: A 37-year-old Egyptian national has been found guilty of murdering a Non Resident Indian (NRI) at his home in Gujarati-dominated Wembley in London.

After a four-week trial, Sami Mahmoud Salama was found guilty by a majority verdict, of murder of 48-year-old Dilip Manusuk Unadkat, a retailer.

Twenty seven-year-old Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed El-Shubrawy, another accused in the case, was found not guilty of murder.

The Metropolitan Police has said Salama would be sentenced in due course.

Detective Sergeant John Hughes, of the Metropolitan Homicide and Serious Crime Command, based at Hendon, said, "Dilip died at the hands of a man who blatantly used the victim for whatever he could get his hands on.

"Salama saw an opportunity to befriend Dilip and exploit his good nature. He visited his home and stabbed him to death then stole a quantity of cash along with expensive Indian jewellery of a sentimental value and personal belongings".

The court heard that Dilip was found dead at his address on November 27, 2008, at Alexandra court, in Wembley. Officers had to force entry into the house, following a phone call from a concerned family member who had not seen him for some time.

Upon entering they found Dilip dead with five stab wounds to chest, and a bloodstained 5" kitchen knife next to him.
