Moscow:
Rescuers had to pull a man out of a waste disposal chute in an apartment block in the western Siberian city of Tyumen on Wednesday, after he got stuck in it when hiding from his girlfriend, an official said.
"An eyewitness reported to the regional rescue service that there was a man in the chute... The rescuers crew found a man, who was stuck at the fifth floor, in the garbage disposal," Emergency Response Service spokeswoman Elena Tretiyachenko said on Thursday.
The victim, 32, said he jumped in the chute from the landing on the eighth floor to escape from his girlfriend. After he fell three floors down the chute, the man got stuck and began to cry out for help.
Rescue workers had to cut a section of the chute away to pull him out, she said.
