Seattle:
The Seattle Fire Department used a safety rope to help save the life of a window-washer who fell eight stories from a building in the centre of Seattle, Washington State.
Surveillance video showed the 34-year-old man falling from the building and bouncing as he hit the ground. The rope is said caught at the second story and softened the impact.
Eyewitness, Robert Kleppen, told ABC that he heard yelling at the time of the man's fall.
"We looked over at the window. We saw a body come through the 7th floor window, and then he fell, continued to fall," Kleppen said, adding: "He was free falling when he actually hit the window and kept going, but his ropes were still attached, so a safety gear saved him from actually hitting the ground."
The man was conscious and talking to paramedics who took him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
