London:
A man in Britain has been convicted of killing his first wife and attempting to kill his second wife allegedly for insurance money.
He was also found guilty of attempting to bigamously marry a third woman and of trying to con her by saying he had leukaemia, the Daily Express reported.
52-year-old Malcolm Webster had killed his 32-year-old wife Claire Morris in May 1994, just eight months after they wed. During his trial in Glasgow the jury heard how he drugged Claire, crashed their car and set fire to it while she was inside.
He squandered the £200,000 insurance payout within the next six months.
He tried to murder his second wife, Felicity Drumm, in a car crash in New Zealand in 1999 and stood to get more than £750,000 in insurance. The attempt failed and he was tried for attempted murder and insurance fraud.
