Honolulu:
A Hawaii fisherman who spent 12 days lost at sea says surviving on raw fish was worthwhile because it led him to reconnect with the son he hadn't spoken to in years.
Ron Ingraham was rescued Tuesday after putting out a mayday call on Thanksgiving saying his boat was in danger of sinking.
The Coast Guard contacted his son, Zakary Ingraham, in Missouri when the agency suspended the search December 1.
Meanwhile, the fisherman was fighting to stay alive, eating mahimahi and tuna he caught. He said Thursday from the docked boat he calls home that he stuck a wire hanger in his storm-damaged radio to get out a garbled transmission that led to a Navy ship finding him.
Father and son spoke by phone Wednesday night.
