Los Angeles: Police detained a man allegedly carrying a weapon near Vice President Joe Biden's speaking venue in Los Angeles just hours before his address on Wednesday, a spokesman said.
The man was held in North Hollywood, near a business where Biden was to speak about raising the national minimum wage, said Los Angeles police spokesman Marlon Marrache.
The man "breached a zone" set up by police for Biden's visit and was found to be in possession of a weapon, Marrache said, giving no further details.
Security is routinely tight around visits by Biden and President Barack Obama, with regular incidents involving small aircraft encroaching into sealed airspace around the dignitaries' location.
