London : British police say a huge crash involving 34 vehicles on a highway in southwestern England has killed at least seven people and injured dozens.
Assistant Chief Constable Anthony Bangham says the crash on Friday night, which saw explosions and cars and large trucks "burnt literally to the ground," injured 51 people.
It was not immediately clear what caused the collision on the M5 highway but police said foggy conditions and wet road surfaces were partly to blame.
Video shown on British news channels showed balls of fire emerging from trucks and billowing smoke at the scene.
Bangham said Saturday police fear they may find more bodies in the wreckage.
The affected section of the busy highway has been closed in both directions.
