Medvedev may seek second term in 2012: Kremlin aide
Moscow: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev could seek re-election after his term expires in 2012, a senior Kremlin aide said today.

"I think it will be clear to anyone who looks carefully at what Dmitry Medvedev is doing, that he wants to stay on for a second term," Kremlin economic aide Arkady Dvorkovich said in an interview to the Russian Service of the BBC.

Dvorkovich noted that Medvedev is not acting like a president who will leave office after his term ends in 2012.

He also said the issue will be jointly discussed between Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Medvedev who have "constructive and friendly" relations, but did not rule out that the two could swap the jobs as Putin did after serving two consecutive terms in the presidential office.

The recent survey conducted by the VTsIOM pollster indicates that Medvedev will sweep the presidential polls if they are held now.
