Bogota: A 24-year-old Colombian man has officially become the world's shortest man.
Edward Nino Hernandez has been certified as the world's shortest living mobile male by Guinness World Records, measuring just 70.21 centimetres (27.46 inches).
The previous titleholder was He Pingping of China, who was an inch or so taller and died on the 13 March.
The oldest of five siblings, Nino lives in the family's sparely furnished apartment in Bosa, a mostly poor district of southern Bogota.
He is slightly taller than a piece of carry-on luggage and weighs just 10 kilograms (22 pounds).
Nino's parents were never given a reason for their son's lack of growth although he was born weighing just 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds).
According to his mother, Noemi, he's not grown since he was two years old.
It's possible Nino's reign will not be for long as Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal is expected to claim the title when he turns 18 on 14 October.
He measures about 56 centimetres (22 inches) and is currently recognised by Guinness as the shortest living teen.
However, Nino seems to be relishing the limelight while it lasts saying he's happy to be given a world prize.
