The one-on-one talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan PM Yousuf Raza Gilani has ended in Egypt on Thursday. However, the delegation meet between the representatives of the two countries is still on.
The talks between Manmohan Singh and Gilani lasted for two hours.
However, there has not been any agreement on a joint statement yet though attempts are being made for the same.
Earlier, the Foreign Secretaries of both the countries met several times in the last 24 hours as they work out areas of differences.
Pakistan sources say it wants a resumption of the composite dialogue. India is keener to discuss mainly terrorism at this stage.
Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon, who also met the Pakistan PM informally, said that talks were still on to decide the agenda for Thursday and whether there would be a joint statement over the issue of what the forthcoming framework of dialogue should be, composite dialogue or terrorism only.
Meanwhile, ahead of the crucial meeting between Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Gilani in Egypt, the Prime Minister made a strong pitch for an international convention against terrorism during his speech at the Non Aligned Movement summit.
But Pakistan's speech fell back on an old issue, as Gilani used the forum to bring up Kashmir, linking its resolution to "durable peace" in South Asia, even as it cited some "forward movement" in its ties with India.
The Pakistan Prime Minister said, "We believe durable peace in South Asia is achievable. It will be facilitated by the resolution of all outstanding disputes, including Jammu and Kashmir."
