Islamabad:
Hussain Haqqani, former Pakistan envoy to the US and an associate of President Asif Ali Zardari, will appear in an Islamabad court today at a hearing on the Memogate scandal. Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader President Nawaz Sharif will appear before the memogate commission.
The commission formed by the top court is investigating into the issue of memo that was handed over to Mike Mullen through US businessman of Pakistan-origin Mansoor Ijaz allegedly on behalf of Pakistan government. The memo allegedly asked for support for the President, who feared a coup by the US army after Osama bin Laden was killed in Abbottabad by US Navy SEALS.
Mansoor Ijaz had also written a letter to the Commission in which he said he was ready to visit Pakistan and requested for provision of complete security to him and the evidence he would be in possession of.
