Hezbollah says thwarts Israel bid to advance on southern border
Hezbollah, Iran-backed armed group, was initially formed by Shia Muslim leaders with support from Iran. Representing the marginalised Shia population, Hezbollah quickly became a powerful militia, recruiting heavily from disaffected youth in Beirut's southern suburbs and the Bekaa Valley.
Yemen's Huthis claim drone attack on Tel Aviv
Yemen's Iran-backed Huthi said they carried out a drone attack on Tel Aviv, although there was no direct confirmation from Israeli authorities. In a statement, the Huthis said they "carried out a military operation targeting a vital target in the Jaffa (Tel Aviv) area in occupied Palestine with a number of Jaffa drones".

In Beirut, AFP journalists heard multiple explosions overnight and reported some buildings shaking. One of the Israeli strikes hit a Hezbollah rescue facility, a source close to the group told AFP, killing at least six people, according to a Lebanese health ministry toll.A total of 17 overnight air raids had hit Beirut by dawn on Thursday, Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) reported.
Israel carried out a deadly air raid on Thursday (October 3), in central Beirut after eight ground troops were killed near the Lebanese border, as it traded threats with its arch foe Iran over possible future attacks.
