A report published in Pakistan's Daily Times said that a senior journalist has been missing since Sunday. The newspaper quoted Human Rights Watch and said that Saleem Shahzad is in custody of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.
Shahzad's friends said he was whisked away by unidentified people on Sunday evening when he left his residence to participate in a television show.
His mobile phone remained switched off and his car could not be traced.
Shahzad had reported on Al Qaeda being behind the Mehran attack.
He is a bureau chief of Asia Times Online and has written a book on Al Qaeda in Pakistan which is due to be released.
