Monica Lewinsky Writes About Her Affair with Bill Clinton

Monica Lewinksy has this to say about the White House affair that made her recognizable across the globe: "I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened."

Ms Lewinksy has written for Vanity Fair magazine about the controversy that led to impeachment proceedings for Bill Clinton. She says their affair in 1995 - she was 21 at the time - was "a consensual relationship" and denies rumours that she was later paid off by Bill and Hillary Clinton for her silence. She says that in the aftermath of the affair, she was suicidal but did not ever try to end her life.

News of the Clinton-Lewinsky relationship broke in January 1998. Bill Clinton famously stated on television, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."
