Move over, Salman. Sheikh Hasina's women bodyguards are tough

Dhaka: A security woman, her hand close to a gun hidden beneath her dark suit, keeps an eagle eye on the people milling close to Bangladeshi prime minister. She is part of Sheikh Hasina's security detail.

The security woman and her other colleagues throw a practically impregnable ring around Ms Hasina. She is not the only security woman who is part of the Bangladeshi Prime Minister's security set up. There are others too.

Dressed in black suits and trousers and wearing dark glasses, the security women mean business.

And how!

As soon as a photographer came close to Sheikh Hasina when she came to the international airport here on Tuesday to receive her Indian counterpart, a security woman practically elbowed him out.

The security personnel, women as well as men, were on their toes, watching attentively, listening into their semi-hidden earpieces and keeping a hand on their gun's butt.

When Sheikh Hasina sat in her armoured BMW and sped off, the security women jumped into SUVs and scanned the people as the motorcade peeled away.

Sheikh Hasina is not the only person to have female bodyguards.

Yingluck Shinawatra, who was elected Thailand's first female prime minister last month, is known to have female bodyguards who are trained in attack, hunting and escape riding techniques.

Ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi too had female bodyguards.
