Mubarak to be tranferred to prison hospital
Cairo: Egypt's prosecutor general has ordered former President Hosni Mubarak be transferred to a prison hospital after a medical test declared him "fit enough" to travel.

A specific date for the move, ordered by Prosecutor Abdel Maguid Mahmud's, is yet to be fixed as authorities are waiting for the Interior Ministry to arrange security measures for the transfer, an official spokesman said.

He would be moved to Mazraa hospital at Tora prison once proper preparations have been made, the spokesman said. Mubarak was likely to be first moved to the International Medical Centre, a military hospital in the capital, security sources said.

The former Egyptian president was "fit enough" to be moved, as long as he was given appropriate medical attention, the prosecutor's office said.

Mubarak has been under detention at a hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh and officials are investigating allegations against him of corruption and misuse of state funds.

He is also under investigation for the deaths of hundreds of activists during the recent Egypt uprising, which led to his ouster from office in February.

The former strongman is suffering from health problems, including heart palpitations and blood pressure-related issues.

Mubarak's two sons, Gamal and Alaa, have also been detained and are in custody in Cairo.
