Fort Hood (United States): A US military judge has again held the Muslim suspect of a mass shooting in contempt of court after he appeared at a pretrial hearing with a beard, in violation of Army regulations.
Major Nidal Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in an attack at Fort Hood in Texas.
Last week the judge told Hasan he would be forcibly shaved before his August 20 trial if he didn't shave on his own.
Hasan's attorneys say his beard is an expression of his faith.
Hasan was fined another US $ 1,000 on Friday. The judge said Hasan would watch the rest of the hearing on a closed-circuit television in a nearby trailer.
