My New Year's resolution is to be nicer to White House Press: Barack Obama

U.S. President Barack waves goodbye at the end of his year-end news conference in the White House briefing room in Washington, December 20, 2013.

Washington: American President Barack Obama said that his New Year resolution is to be nicer with the White House Press Corps.

"My New Year's resolution is to be nicer to the White House Press Corps," Obama said amidst laughter yesterday at his year ender news conference.

"You know? Absolutely," said the US President, who of late has been accused by the White House Press Corps of being less transparent and giving less access to the media.

Last week, a delegation of various press organisations met the White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and other officials to discuss the issue of media access to the President.

The group stressed the need for consistent, meaningful access to the President for photographers and the full White House press corps.

The delegation comprised of White House Correspondents Association, the American Society of News Editors, Associated Press Media Editors, White House News Photographers Association, and National Press Photographers Association.
