"Will Become More Affordable": Kartikey Hariyani On Future Of EVs

The cost of EV batteries has come down by half, which is making EVs more competitive. While batteries remain a significant cost, the reduction in prices and technological advancements in components like motors and controllers are helping bring down overall costs. As India pushes towards energy transition, EVs will become more affordable.

"Fast Charging Is Critical For EV adoption", Says Kartikey Hariyani

Fast charging is critical for EV adoption, especially for cars, buses, and trucks. The good news is that we have over 450 fast charging locations across 22 states and 30,000 km of electrified highways in India. Fast charging is especially important for intercity travel, and while it may not be a profitable investment for cars alone, buses and trucks are driving demand, said Kartikey Hariyani

Kartikey Hariyani On Concerns People Have About EVs In India

"One major concern is the impact of road conditions, high temperatures, and stop-and-go traffic on battery life. Air conditioning use adds stress on the battery, and the cost of an EV is largely tied to the battery. However, most Indian consumers drive less than 15 km a day, so for many, an EV makes sense. The total cost of ownership is becoming more attractive as battery costs have decreased by half," said Kartikey Hariyani.

Kartikey Hariyani On Realistic Network Of Charging Points For EVs

Charging infrastructure is the number one enabler or deterrent when deciding whether to buy an EV. India's market has different segments-two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Two-wheelers mostly charge at home or work, while three-wheelers and four-wheelers will rely on commercial recharging infrastructure. The industry has been investing in this for six years, and today we have localized chargers for both three-wheelers and four-wheelers, said Kartikey Hariyani Founder & CEO, of ChargeZone & BILLIONe at NDTV World Summit

Israeli Ambassador On Israel-Iran Conflict

"The expansion of the conflict was due to Iran’s decision to extend the war. It wasn’t something we chose; other parties escalated the situation," the Israeli Ambassador said.

Israeli Ambassador on India's Role In West Asia At NDTV World Summit

"I see a substantial role for India. India is a rising power, and what it has to contribute to the world is huge—it's a powerhouse. I've observed how India has been working to strengthen ties with the UAE. India's role in West Asia is only going to grow with each passing year," said the Israeli Ambassador.

Shraddha Kapoor On Role Of Women In Film Industry

"I believe our industry is evolving just as India is evolving. Indian cinema is progressing alongside Indian society. It's an exciting time for actresses to get the right opportunities, with audiences being more open. With the rise of OTT platforms, Indian actresses have thrilling opportunities ahead."

Shraddha Kapoor On Facing A Horror Experience During Stree Shooting

"In the first part, there was an incident on set-something paranormal happened. I wasn't there to experience it, but Rajkummar Rao and the other cast members did. A lightman even felt like he was pushed by someone from behind, yet there was no one near him."

Shraddha Kapoor On Stree 2 At NDTV World Summit

"A lot of people, after Stree 2, would come up to me and ask, 'Are you really a ghost?' I'm actually very scared of horror movies myself. I was terrified watching myself transform in Stree. I'm petrified of horror films," said Shraddha Kapoor at the NDTV World Summit

'Shook Hands, Came Back': S Jaishankar On Pak Visit For SCO Summit

"I am a good SCO member. We were very supportive and wanted the proceeding to be smooth. Haath milaya aur aa gaye wapis (shook hands and came back)," he said at the NDTV World Summit 2024.

S Jaishankar On Cybersecurity

"The more cyber we become, it's a great enabler. All that progress has a parallel danger. Which is why the government spends so much on cyber security," S Jaishankar said.

S Jaishankar On Threat To Air India

"The broad point is this would not be the first time. We have seen threats to our airlines, leaders, parliament. There are very serious issues. My question to them (Canada) is suppose it was your airline, would you take it as lightly as that," S Jaishankar said.

External Affairs Minister At Summit

"If you look at 1960s and 70s, we moved towards socialism. Globalisation started in 80s and 90s, we missed the bus. Because of policies, we fell behind, specially if you compare us with China. Today, in the last over 100 days, the decisions which have come out. To me, political stability is very crucial. You  need people who can look ahead. We need vision, political stability. Today when we look at the cabinet, we are working with that vision," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On SCO Summit In Pak

"I went there for SCO. I am a good SCO member. I went there, met everyone, shook hands and came back," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On Neighbourhood

"Our neighbourhood is democratic which means that political changes will keep on happening. We will often be the subject of their politics. We have to factor in that in our policies. If we can create a record of being a country which is a reliable friend in any trouble, if they understand that there's this country India which is generous, which is large, if we create that record and which I feel we have. During Sri Lanka crisis, we stepped up. Today in Sri Lanka, we have seen a very big change," said S Jaishankar.

"Bhutan had the wisdom to collaborate on electricity. This is a lesson which everyone should learn," he said.

S Jaishankar On Russia.

"Prime Minister is going to Russia tomorrow. If you look at our ties with India after independence, Russia hasn't done anything to hit our interests. You have a Russia which is turning towards Asia. Shouldn't we as an Asian country do what is good for our interests. It's not just Russian oil, it's coal. You will always keep your further away country good. The history is a positive asset in that sense," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On India's Century

"You can't be the fifth largest economy and say you don't have anything on (semiconductor) chips. All this comes as a big party of being a party of India's century," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On Digital Infra, Big Tech

"We have demonstrated in this decade what can be the benefits of digital infrastructure. The lowest income person is gaining the most from the digital infrastructure. We have done exceedingly well in this respect. When I speak to counterparts in the US or Europe, I say look how smoothly our election goes. Most of the large big tech companies are from US and now Chinese. We are now moving to an era of Artificial Intelligence. I definitely see this as a great opportunity," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On US-China

"At the end of the day if we are looking at a foreign policy, I would definitely say we will make those calculations and make those decisions," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On India-US

"India-US has grown steadily all this time. The last ten years, lot of the ideological hang-ups we had, we put it behind us.  I am very confident that this relationship will do very well," S Jaishankar said.

S Jaishankar On India-China

"We are on a track of economic rejuvenation. If you are predicting developments of this century, you can't discount India and China. We are neighbours. We have unresolved boundary issues. Two large neighbouring countries rise next to each other in the same time frame is not easy. This will require a lot of skill and diplomacy. Both of us will want to become larger," said S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On China

"We reached an agreement on patrolling. That's as much as I can share with you . The understanding to my knowledge is we will be doing the patrolling which we were doing in 2020," S Jaishankar said.

"It's a positive development. It's a product of a very persevering diplomacy. It has been a very patient process," he added.

S Jaishankar On West's Attitude Towards India

"When I go to the US or Europe, there are countries which say there is value to working with India. The unfortunate thing is that it didn't happen with Canada," S Jaishankar.

S Jaishankar On Canada Situation

"There's a general western issue and to some extent a very specific Canada issue. The world order after 1945 was heavily western and after 1990s it was also very very western. In the last 20 years, there has been a rebalancing, many non-western countries have been very influential. The equation between non-west and west is changing. And, it's not easy to adjust.

"Many more large countries like India or China have points of views, and there will confrontations and it will not be so smooth," he added

"I would say there's some history. In the 1980s, Air India plane flying out of Canada was blown up. Developments in the politics went in a different direction. Canada asked us to subject our High Commissioner to police inquiry and we chose to withdraw him. The license that they give themselves is totally different from the restrictions put on the diplomats," he explained the escalating row with Canada.

S Jaishankar At NDTV World Summit

"I think the importance of Indian talent and skill are growing day by day. There's a great interest on how we can this smooth movement of talent from India," said S Jaishankar.
