The political crisis in Nepal continues with no consensus among parties, which have been asked to form a new government by Saturday.
Maoists continue to blame India for the fall of their government and, quite clearly, there is growing anti-India sentiment in Nepal.
However, sources have told NDTV that New Delhi is firmly of the view that the political mess in Nepal is entirely of its own doing.
According to sources, the Indian Ambassador met Prachanda four times in two weeks on his invitation. Prachanda told India's Ambassador that the Army chief, who he had wanted removed, was uncooperative.
Sources add that blaming India is essentially a distraction from the real issue of Army, since18 political parties were opposed to PM Prachanda's move to sack Army chief.
The main worry in Nepal is to find an acceptable solution to the standoff with the army chief, Rookmangud Katawal, seen as someone who has India's total support - a charge India vehemently denies.
"India has no intention of interfering in the internal crisis of Nepal. We wish them well and we hope that the process of democratic transition would be taken to its logical conclusion and peace building will succeed in Nepal," said Anand Sharma, MoS, ExternalAffairs.
The uncertainty in Nepal persists even if the Maoists are back to doing what they do best--protest and raise the India bogey. No one has any idea how the current crisis will get resolved, but whatever happens, the Maoists will remain centre stage.
