Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and is learnt to have apprised him of the political situation in his country where the parties are struggling to elect a Prime Minister and write a Constitution.The three major parties -- the ruling Communists, their ally, the Nepali Congress, and opposition Maoists -- have remained deadlocked in a bitter contest for power that began in June 2010 after Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal resigned.Nepal is set to witness a fresh round of voting in the 601-member Constituent Assembly for election of the Prime Minister.Yadav's second deadline to form a national consensus government had expired on January 26, following 16 rounds of polls for the Premier's post which did not produce a winner.To get elected to the post, a candidate requires at least 300 votes in the 601-member Constituent Assembly. Earlier, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna had met Yadav and is understood to have stressed on giving multi-party democracy a chance to succeed. Yadav was hopeful that the political disturbances in his country would soon subside. On February 4, Yadav is scheduled to visit the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh where he will be the chief guest of the convocation ceremony of the Institute. This is Yadav's second visit to India after assuming office in July 2008.
