Nepal to see Maoist govt soon: Prachanda

Nepal's former Prime Minister Prachanda said on Monday that a new government under Maoist leadership will be formed "within weeks" as the former rebels decided to embark on a 'People's Revolution' to capture power.

The Maoists, who have been isolated by the mainstream political parties, have decided to push ahead with a 'People's Revolution' so as form a national government under the leadership of its supremo Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda',

"We had serious discussions on the current problems in the country as well as the party's internal issues during the politburo meeting. We were successful in reaching the right conclusion and consolidating the party unity," party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', told reporters after the meeting.

Prachanda claimed that a government of national consensus under the Maoists' leadership will be formed within the next few weeks. He also underlined the need for pushing ahead with the landmark peace process and drafting the Constitution for the country.

The concept paper calls upon the people to be prepared in case national and international reactionary powers tries to sabotage Maoists' plan, Narayan Kaji Shrestha "Prakash", a top leader of the UCPN-Maoist said.

The UCPN-Maoist's 45-member politburo, which concluded a key meeting today, passed a resolution seeking to intensify its campaign to form a national government under the party's leadership and to launch a 'People's Revolution' to achieve the objectives of the party.
