Pakistani officials have detained an 11th suspect in connection with the probe into the failed car bomb attack in New York by Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad, a media report said on Thursday.

The latest suspect to be detained is a man named Qamar Ejaz, a Pakistani intelligence source said. Ejaz's brother, Adnan Ejaz, is a former Pakistan Army major who is also in custody.

CNN reported it was not clear how Ejaz was connected to Shahzad, the son of a former Pakistan Air Force officer. Shahzad was arrested while trying to fly out of New York on May 3, two days after he left a vehicle filled with explosive materials in New York's Times Square.

The car bomb failed to explode.

According to reports, among those detained so far are an employee of the telecom firm Telenor, the son of the owner of one of Islamabad's largest catering services and the owner of a computer firm who allegedly uploaded a video of Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud on the Internet.

There has been no official word on these detentions.
