New York: Just a month after the US government eased travel restrictions on Cuba, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is planning a trip to the island nation.
Mr Cuomo's spokeswoman Melissa DeRosa said in an email on Saturday that Mr Cuomo plans to lead a trade mission to Cuba to promote New York. She did not say when the Democratic Governor would travel, adding that details would be announced later.
On December 17, Cuba and the United States announced that the US embargo on Cuba would be eased and diplomatic relations would be normalized.
Ms DeRosa says the trip to Cuba would be part of a "Global NY" initiative. Mr Cuomo has previously announced that he plans trips to Israel, China, Mexico and elsewhere during his new second term as Governor.
