Nine killed in violence in Balochistan

Karachi: Nine persons, including two children, were killed in incidents of violence involving two rival groups in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province, a minister said today.

Provincial Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti told the media that the dead include a peace force officer, two suspects and six civilians.

He said members of the banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA) attacked a house in Dera Bugti last night, killing three women, two children and two men.

Today, tribesmen chased suspected BRA members to Jaffarabad, where a shootout between the two groups resulted in the death of one tribesman and two suspects, Bugti said.
