Islamabad:
US President Obama's new Afghan-Pakistan policy had set a clear target for Pakistan- contain and wipe out the Taliban and other extremist elements in exchange for $7.5 billion in cash over the next five years.
Monday's audacious terror attack on a police academy near Lahore has strengthened Islamabad's resolve to fight the Taliban. Initial investigations seem to have confirmed that the Taliban were behind it and Islamabad now says it has no choice but to fight them.
"This is an attack on Pakistan. There are two choices, to either let the Taliban take over your country or to fight it out. At this time the nation must unite and show its unity," said Rehman Malik, Interior Minister, Pakistan.
