Note found in Superstorm Sandy debris in New York is from dead girl
Patchogue, New York: A suburban New York community is planning a special ceremony this weekend to remember a young visitor most people in the town likely never met.

Sidonie Fery was about 10 years old when she placed a note inside a ginger ale bottle and threw it in the Great South Bay off Long Island. Sidonie was tragically killed in a fall at a Swiss boarding school in 2010.

But two years later, as workers were cleaning up a Patchogue, Long Island, beach after Superstorm Sandy, they discovered the note.

Workers called the New York City phone number, and the bottle and its note made their way back to Sidonie's mother.

This weekend, a plaque is being dedicated at the Patchogue village beach commemorating the kindness of workers who made the discovery.
