Baghdad:
US President Barack Obama arrived in Baghdad on a surprise visit on Tuesday. This is Obama's first visit to Iraq after becoming the US President.
He came to Baghdad from Turkey, the last leg of his eight-day European tour.
Obama's two-day trip in the predominantly Muslim nation was as symbolic of unity as it is strategic, following talks and handshakes with heads of Group of 20 nations, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) and the European Union.
Obama's visit was being closely watched by an Islamic world that harboured deep distrust of his predecessor, George W Bush.
Obama was in Prague on Sunday where he urged European Union leaders to accept Turkey as a member in the bloc.
