Washington:
US President Barack Obama on Saturday greeted Muslims in America and across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and pledged to build a better relationship with the Islamic world.
"As I said in Cairo, my administration is working to ensure that Muslims are able to fulfill their charitable obligations not just during Ramadan, but throughout the year," Obama said in his message on the occasion.
He said that Eid is a time to celebrate the completion of 30 days and 30 nights of devotion.
"Even on this festive occasion, Muslims remember those less fortunate, including those impacted by poverty, hunger, conflict, and disease. Throughout the month, the community collects and distributes 'zakat-ul-fitr' so that all Muslims are able to participate in this day of celebration," he said.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also extended her personal greetings to the community on the occasion.
"Hello and Eid Mubarak. I'm delighted to celebrate the end of Ramadan by wishing all of you a happy Eid," she said in her message.
