One killed in militant attack on NATO container truck in Pak

Islamabad: One person was killed and another injured when militants attacked a NATO container truck insouthwest Pakistan today.

The militants initially signaled the truck to stop in Killa Abdullah district of Baluchistan province. They opened fire when it did not stop, killing the driver and injuring his aide, security officials said.

The injured man was taken to a hospital in provincial capital Quetta.

Both victims belonged to Punjab province, the officials said.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Officials usually blame such attacks on gangs of robbers and pro-Taliban militants.

Hundreds of container trucks and oil tankers ferrying supplies and fuel to NATO and US forces in Afghanistan have been destroyed by militants in attacks in southwest and northwest Pakistan.

Scores of people have died in these attacks.
