Pak Army hits back, targets militant in South Waziristan
Waziristan: Pakistan army has hit back at the Taliban. It has started heavy bombardment in south Waziristan, targeting militant positions. Reports say 19 militants have been killed in the area.

This comes after the Pakistan Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi was taken hostage by Taliban terrorists on Saturday.

The army has been preparing for a major operation in South Waziristan since it began clearing the Swat valley of militants in September.

There were reports that a string of recent militant attacks have been attempts to dissuade the army from mounting an assault on South Waziristan. But the brazen attack on the Pakistan army's very heart, at its HQ in Rawalpindi, is unlikely to hold the army back.
