Pak offensive on Taliban: Army releases video

Islamabad: The Pakistani military on Wednesday released a video which purportedly shows the ongoing operations against Taliban forces in the country's northwest.

The army said the video was shot on Tuesday in Swat's Piochar Valley. The video shows helicopters dropping Pakistani commandos into the Taliban stronghold. The army claims to have killed more than 750 militants and driven around 800-thousand people from their homes. The offensive has also unleashed a tide of refugees, a figure touching to 1.3 million.

As the war against Taliban continues in Swat, Jamat-ud-Dawa, the front of the Lashkar-e-Toiba seems to have resurfaced distributing relief material to thousands of displaced people fleeing the Valley.

The organisation, which has been listed by the UN as a terrorist group is also reported to be behind the 26/11 attacks.

Pakistan intelligence reports say that a top Al-Qaida leader is hiding in Pakistan.

Al-Qaida's second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahiri is said to be hiding near Quetta in southwest Pakistan. Zawahiri is considered a master of disguise and meticulous planner of the Al-Qaida terrorist network.
