Pak protestors chant 'Obama, solve your own problems'

Karachi: Several dozen demonstrators gathered in Pakistan's largest city, Karachi, on Tuesday, to protest against the killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden in a US special forces' mission a day earlier.

Chanting "Obama! solve your own problems" and "the friend of America is a traitor", members of Pasban (Pakistan Voice Against Injustice) youth organisation rallied against US troops crossing into Pakistan to raid bin Laden's compound in the town of Abbottabad.

The group's leader Azam Minhas went one step further, suggesting that the US "staged" the dead for domestic political reasons.

"The CIA staged this event only to make Obama more successful at the next elections" said Minhas, adding that "news of Bin Laden's death has already been published several times and this time they again came up with fresh claims to achieve their targets".

Protesters held banners reading: "Mr Obama! Win elections with votes, not with blood" and "Drama of the century. America, make an exit strategy".

The protest wad organised by Pasban group, an informal affiliate of the radical Jamaat-e-Islami

In another part of Pakistan's commercial capital Karachi, more than a thousand people gathered on Tuesday afternoon, to hold a prayer service and vigil in honour of Osama bin Laden.

Many people were crying during the prayer, while others chanted anti-American slogans, such as: "The blood of Osama would lead to revolution"

The prayer was organised by Jamat-ud-Dawa, a group banned by the the Pakistani government.

Naveed Qamar, the head of Jamat-ud-Dawa in Karachi said that Muslims should not lose hope in the aftermath of bin Laden's killing. "God willing the holy war against the enemies of Islam will continue" he added.
