Islamabad: The twitter account of Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir was allegedly hacked and his handle posted controversial tweets about the visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Pakistan.
The handle also tweeted pictures yesterday of his purported email account as well as banking details.
Later, Mr Mir tweeted, "I have been receiving a lot of twitter password reset requests recently. Someone trying to hack me".
"I have changed my twitter email and recovered the password. Thank God," he tweeted.
However, his account was restored later.
Ms Swaraj arrived in Islamabad yesterday on a two-day visit, primarily to attend the 'Heart of Asia' 5th Ministerial Meeting on Afghanistan on Wednesday.
She will hold talks with Mr Aziz and call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the conference today.
The fifth 'Heart of Asia' conference, an annual gathering of Asian and other countries, is aimed at enhancing cooperation for countering security threats and promoting connectivity in the region.
After arriving in Islamabad, Ms Swaraj said the relationship between the two countries should be better and that she will hold talks with Pakistani leaders to find ways to improve bilateral ties.
