Pakistan: Militants kill 4 policemen in Quetta

Islamabad: Suspected militants today gunned down four policemen at Quetta city in Pakistan's restive southwest, officials said.

The four constables, who were on motorcycles, had been deployed near Badini Road in Quetta to patrol railway tracks.

Gunmen fired indiscriminately at the policemen, killing them instantly, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Qazi Abdul Wahid said.

"We cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the assailants," Wahid said at the site of the incident.

The gunmen fled after the attack.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident though such attacks are usually blamed on Baloch national organisations.
