Pakistan appears to be intensifying its military operations against the Taliban in Buner and other remote areas.
Accompanied by artillery, helicopter gunships and jet fighters, Pakistani soldiers launched a full-fledged operation against the militants in Buner, targeting their suspected hideouts in different areas.
Meanwhile, a large number of residents started migration to safer places. Pakistani security forces have taken control of Dagar, one of the main towns of Buner.
The army is distributing pamphlets asking residents not to flee Buner, and asking the Taliban to surrender.
As part of a major operation against the Taliban, 70 plus Taliban men were killed on Tuesday, as the army took control of Dir. Now the army claims to have taken over most of Buner.
In recent days, government forces have begun trying to drive the Taliban back into the Swat Valley, from where they have pushed out under cover of a creaking peace pact struck in February.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has redeployed forces along the Line of Control (LoC), because of infiltration bid.
