Pakistan to ask Interpol to arrest former president Musharraf
Islamabad: Pakistan's interior minister says the government will ask Interpol to arrest former president Pervez Musharraf in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Rehman Malik said Tuesday that Pakistan was seeking General Musharraf's arrest because he allegedly failed to provide adequate security for Ms Bhutto.

Legal expert Hashmat Habib said Interpol, an international police organization, has the right to detain Musharraf and hand him over to Pakistan if it chooses to issue a warrant.

Ms Bhutto was killed in a gun and bomb attack on Dec. 27, 2007, near Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.

General Musharraf has been living in London and Dubai since he resigned in 2008. Ms Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party controls the current government.
